About the Course
If you have taken Advoz's introduction to Conflict, Communication and Culture, this course equips you to develop and apply powerful listening skills in a systematic, trauma-informed method.
The experiential 6-hour workshop builds on basic awareness and skills of restorative conflict approaches with a model and practice for engaging restoratively with someone in conflict. Designed especially for leaders, supervisors and coaches, the workshop uses the framework of Dr. Bruce Perry's "4 R's of neurosequential" trauma-informed engagement: 1) Regulate, 2) Relate, 3) Reason, 4) Restore.
Through demonstration, activities and practice, the workshop applies each of these steps toward: 1) de-escalation, 2) empathy-building, 3) identification of needs and issues, and 4) action steps. These steps collectively help you support another person in feeling heard and gaining clarity about their needs in about one hour.
